Kcalm Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 6, 2026

Kcalm ("we," "our," "the app") is a calorie and nutrition tracking app. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control or delete it.

Information we collect

CategoryWhat it includesWhy we collect it
Account info Email address, password (encrypted), name To create and secure your account, and to personalize the app
Health & fitness data Age/birthday, height, weight, weight history, activity level, goals, calorie and macro targets To calculate your personalized calorie and macro targets and show your progress over time
Food & diary data Foods you log, meal times, favorites, water intake To power your food diary and daily/weekly summaries
Camera & photos Used when you scan a barcode, take a food photo, or choose an existing photo from your gallery to log a meal. Barcode numbers are sent to OpenFoodFacts (see below) to look up nutrition facts. Food photos are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI (see below) to identify what's in the photo and estimate nutrition — Kcalm's own servers do not store the photo itself. To let you log food by scanning or photo instead of typing

We do not collect your location, contacts, or browsing history, and we do not use advertising or tracking SDKs.

Third parties we share data with

Supabase (our backend provider) — stores your account and app data securely. Supabase acts as our data processor and does not use your data for its own purposes.

OpenFoodFacts — an open, public food database. When you search for a food or scan a barcode, that search term or barcode number is sent to OpenFoodFacts to retrieve nutrition information. No account or personal information is sent with these requests.

Anthropic (Claude AI) — when you take or choose a food photo to log a meal, that photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude API so it can identify the food and estimate calories and macros. The photo is used only to generate that one response and is not stored in Kcalm's own database. No other account or personal information is sent along with the photo.

Apple / Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the basic profile information (name, email) those services share with us to create your account. We never see your Apple or Google password.

RevenueCat — if you purchase a Kcalm Premium subscription, RevenueCat processes your purchase and subscription status (active, trial, expired, renewal date) on our behalf so the app knows which features to unlock. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple's App Store — Kcalm and RevenueCat never see your card details.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

Your controls

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active, so the app can show your history and trends. If you delete your account, all of your data is permanently deleted from our systems.

Children's privacy

Kcalm is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
